Role and Responsibilities
As a Software Engineer at PhonePe, your key responsibilities will include:
- Building robust and scalable web-based applications
- Designing platforms with reusable components and clean abstractions
- Tackling high-level business and technical problems with product-first thinking
- Creating intuitive module-level interfaces using object-oriented design principles
- Driving architectural improvements and contributing to performance optimization
- Collaborating with Product Managers to deliver impactful solutions
- Leading mid-sized projects and mentoring junior developers
- Writing maintainable, unit-tested, and scalable code with modern tech stacks
- Working on large-scale systems with high concurrency and complex business logic
Candidate Requirements
To apply, you should have:
- B.Tech/M.Tech/Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field
- 9+ years of experience building scalable, enterprise-level software solutions
- Strong programming skills in languages like Java, C, or C++
- Solid understanding of object-oriented design and design patterns
- Hands-on experience with multi-threading, concurrency, and TDD
- Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases such as MySQL, HBase, Aerospike, Elasticsearch
- Experience with end-to-end lifecycle development on Linux systems
- A proactive attitude and strong communication skills
- Prior experience in high-growth startup environments
Good-to-Have Skills
- Ability to lead the design and architecture of multiple subsystems
- Skills to break down vague product challenges into smaller, manageable components
- Understanding of coding standards and writing technical documentation
